Friday The Thirteenth-16APR12

Friday The Thirteenth

I did not lay myself down
On the altar of his need
Clear-eyed
I saw his trapped persona
Colored with vague intentions

So like a motherless child
His addiction to work evident
As his only true companion
His one truest concern

I was never more than
The next warm bed
Someone to rut in the dark
With no hope of connection

Only a nameless “honey”
To witness his complaints
As he ignored his life’s warnings
To engage in a path of renewal

I broke the “daddy”spell instead
Following my body’s wisdom
Self-trusting
I found the treasure of my will
No longer a victim of desire
